Years ago, there was a member here who went by the name Dobie. He pioneered the art of creating threads whose subject line was very, very close to another thread, and whose body was a pun or joke of some sort, parodying the original thread in some way, usually containing a link.
Unfortunately, doing this caught on, and it has become known as a "dobie"

Oh. I thought maybe this would be about the fact that the OshKosh B’gosh Online Store has boys’ and girls’ departments and a menswear department, but no women’s department. What’s up with that?!? I want overalls, darnit!!

Dobie also was banned as I recall from the legend for crashing hatrack somehow. The legend also says that he has been re-incarnated as a particular house-elf.
