I could use some hugs as I'm currently in a conundrum. (not sure if i spelled that right) I have a choice to make and neither of the two options is very pleasant. This is causing major stress.
For details of the decision I'm faced with, see my thread about filing a complaint with OSHA.
edited because all this stress has messed up my ability to spell.

Goes back around and gives more grogy hugs to those who really need or needed one. Looks around makeing sure she did not miss anyone hiding in the corner or whatnot. And slowly nods her head goodnight and shuffles out.*

Hugs needed. I had an assistant manager at work tell me flat out that if I filed a complaint about the heat situation, The company would fire me. Posts: 4569 | Registered: Dec 2003

THAT is absolutely illegal, Derrell. If they make that threat again, smile -- grin ferally, if you like -- and say, "My lawyer will enjoy that." ((((((((((Derrell))))))))))

rivka, as I pointed out in my thread on this subject, I know it's illegal. The company knows it to, but doesn't care. They fired someone who filed a sexual harassment complaint against a fellow employee. The fired the harasser, but also fired the victim. The company simply doesn't care about it's employees.
Does anyone know how I'd go about filing a complaint and finding an employment law attorney I can afford? Anyone with answers to these questions can post them in my OSHA thread.
end hug thread derailment. more hugs would be appreciated. Posts: 4569 | Registered: Dec 2003

Sorry I didn't hug you in the previous post. All that bashing my head against the wall must have messed up my short term memory. Now, who were you, again? Posts: 4569 | Registered: Dec 2003

Derrell, my advice to you is to count your losses and walk away. When you look for a new job, put down that you worked there, but don't use anybody there as references. Explain the company you're interviewing with why you were fired, and they will most likely understand. It's not ideal, but I think that's your best bet.

(((((Derrell))))) Yeah, I know you know. My point was to threaten them right back -- but in a way that would be hard for them to respond to. I've been really slacking lately, about posting here... and it's horrible of me to just come back to the hug thread when I need hugs, but *sobs* I could really use them.
My mom just called me downstairs, and I went, and she started yelling at me for no reason that I could see (if I did something wrong, they won't tell me what it is)... then my dad joined in, and the three of us were screaming at each other, for a about half an hour, nonstop... and I STILL don't know what it was about.
Finally, they told me to go call someone about sending them my grades, or something, (I didn't quite catch what it was, but I was open to calling anyone and saying anything at that point), so I took the phone in my hand, and walked out of the kitchen, which is where we were. My dad blew up, came flouncing out of the kitchen (seriously, he was jumping up and down with rage) and told me how DARE I walk out on them like that, and I'm not allowed to drive until I leave for Israel. Four freaking months away. For doing what they told me to do.
Right now, I'm shaking, and crying, and want to throw them both out of my bedroom window. My throat hurts from all the yelling, my head hurts from all the crying, and I really really really could use a spare hug.

You know what I hate? HYPOCRISY. I hate it above all else. It's the most unjust, uncalled for mannerism imaginable.
Yes, it is true that nobody is without hypocrisy... but NOBODY can be as unsubtle about it as my parents. It's their worst quality, it's what I hate most.
Not to mention the moments when my dad starts behaving like a three year old child. Yeah, real mature arguments going on. Posts: 7877 | Registered: Feb 2003
