Tom does have the most posts to my knowledge, but I doubt he would have any interest in being responsible for "bestowing ranks." Doesn't seem like his cup of tea.
Coil, you haven't been a lurker unless you are (a) counting time before you registered, or (b) have had another screenname for a long time and haven't told us who you were. But there's another name other than "lurker" for people who do that....
The term "Star-farmer" (which I only recently learned) doesn't really apply here at Hatrack, since there are no stars given.

well, i'm still feeling pretty new and thank you for the rapid education in hatrack etiquette - where bluntness had better be well-thought out and carefully presented - y'all are training me for a life in politics you know

Psh, all you new kids are just using this thread to ratchet up your posts so you can feel like you're a full fledged member. <--- Doesn't feel the need to increase posts. Posts: 3243 | Registered: Apr 2002

I think the old forum has to count, if we are looking at longevity. I've been around about five years or a little more. Saudade was here before me. She's the only one who still posts currently that was, I think, but Amira was only a year after me.
John Hansen was before me but I don't know if he even lurks anymore.

<--- Will probably forever be considered a newbie.
(although I might consider myself more of a member/lurker)
Just for the record...I am not John Hansen. It seems that many people have thought so, but I have only been around since August 2002 (lurking since April), and I don't even know who he is.

Oh, and "doofus" is also my contribution to do with as I will. Such as, "Shawn Smyres is a doofus."
I also was the first to use "doofi", the now known plural form of "doofus". To use an example, let's say there are two Shawn Smyres. The sentence would then be: "The Shawns Smyres are doofi," indicating more than one doofus.

Yeah, I'm not even CLOSE to being the longest-sitting Hatracker, although my posting frequency has been higher. Quite a few people who still lurk and/or occasionally post here predated me on the BML forum, and a tiny number of them were even around on AOL. If John Hansen's still around and hasn't completed his transformation into a bitter old piece of humorless but rugged granite, he probably deserves the title. Otherwise, I'd say AKA -- but only if she continues posting more often. *grin* Posts: 37449 | Registered: May 1999

Under this name I'm weighing in at 1.86 posts per day. At this rate I'll hit 10,000 in the end of January 2015.

Yeah, am I a jatraquera or a vet or an old-timer? I would guess one of the first two (Anyone who was here before the term jatraquero was coined has to be one, I assume.).
Jane, I'd say you're at least a jatraquera, if not a vet.

I used to post in the young writers' forum ages ago. That was at least about three years or so ago. I've popped in here before, with a few names. I never seem to stay around for terribly long, though.

Ralphie, I'm by no means against accepting credit for stuff whether I deserve it or not, but how did I remind you about this?

Heh, my overall average is 6.92 posts/day, but since my landmark it's actually 11.79 posts/day, and that only because I've been majorly slacking over the past week.

Yeah, I had a better average just before my landmark, because I wanted to do that landmark SO BAD!
Papa Moose: I'm surprised you didn't have to. I'm stupid, and not in the good way, when it comes to math.

No, Ela, we were doing that six months ago. We're past it now. Most of us, that is -- just not the n00bs and newbies, and people with member numbers over 4,000, or with fewer than 600 posts.

For a person who has attempted to become a Hatrack regular for over three years, do you know how difficult it is for me to see people like T_Smith and Jon Boy waltz in here and become welcomed within a single, measley, week?
I might never become a cool n00b but I think I make a pretty darn good geeky lurker. I fear I shant ever be welcomed into Hatrack society and blame this solely upon my over excessive use of smilies (Not my personality, surely!).
