Hey Armoth, how cool. I used to be a secretary at Stern (way before your time). I'm kind of surprised you guys sang Mi Yemalel, actually. I love the tune, but from a religious POV, it's kind of yuck, no? I mean, turning the pasuk "mi yemalel gevurot Hashem" into "mi yemalel gevurot Yisrael" was probably a HaShomer HaTzair thing.
I liked the sevivon sov sov sov beat version. And I'm guessing that the guy who started Jingle Bells was doing an homage to the video that was going around last year where the guy broke out into "I had a little dreydl", yes?
Whoever the guy was who did the Adam Sandler impression was pretty good, too.

Yeah. This was the Chanuka version of Straight No Chaser's 12 nights of Christmas.
We discussed the Mi Yimalel thing. It's funny the english version, intead of yakum hagibor it's a hero or sage, so i suppose thats a bit more religious.
We went with it anyway bc of the tune, and we weren't THAT offended...

I was just wondering if anyone on hatrack had seen Straight No Chaser videos. I saw them live back when they were IU students in the 90s, it's cool to see them matter now.

I've heard they're releasing a less religious cd at mothers day. It's been a really awesome year seeing them go from no one to youtube sensation to on all the daytime shows.
