Yes, there's an as-yet-unidentified problem that's causing the forum page to forward (intermittently and automatically) to a non-existent page. The webmaster has been informed.

I keep going in and opening one thread at a time in new windows...I'm always up for a good challenge - reading posts has become TOO easy anyways...

Hatrack Extreme!
In the next version, you have to do it while PJ and Tom hold you upside down by your ankles.

Click the "stop loading this page" button the second you see that the forum index has appeared. It will halt you before the redirect. Browse at leisure.

It hadn't happened to me until this morning, when it happened once. Then just now it happened gazillion times in a row. I finally clicked a thread fast enough to get in.

It looks to me like it might be a problem with some of the google ads. If so, an ad blocker would probably stop it.

It's worse today than it was yesterday. I don't have Firefox at work, so I guess I just have to deal with it.

I just hit escape the moment I see the main page. I'm using IE6, and that stops it from forwarding. If I missed it, I just hit back and escape quickly.

When loading the main forum page, allow the browser to load the threads, and then quickly cancel loading on your browser. This has been working for me on Firefox, and if it's an ad problem with the ads loading last, then it should work on all browsers.

Thanks! That's solving it for me.

I think I *might* have figured out what the problem actually is. To me it looks like ads associated with doubleclick (The ads at the bottom of the page) are randomly attempting to load the ads as if they were saved on Hatrack's web server instead of google/doubleclick. I bet if those ads get pulled out of the page source temporarily the problem will stop. And then of course contact Google ads/Doubleclick and let them know what's going on. But someone's probably figured that out already.

A vaguely similar problem stopped me from looking at CNN in IE6; the page wasn't 404-ing, but it would load all the article titles and then just freeze, waiting to load an ad that would never actually finish loading and/or executing.
(Ya really feel like there ought to be a way to make people who code ads that badly do some kind of penance...)

I downloaded firefox to my home computer and it is working great here (which probably means I need to update stuff at work).
