Maybe so, but probably not as much as this kid, who was locked up in a juvenile facility for 12 days because his school forgot to change their clocks.

Why in the world would anyone call their school at 2:17AM in the freakin' morning? Do they honestly think someone is going to answer?
(Not that this suprises me. My dad works for the school, and when we're there on 'off' hours, the phone rings quite a bit. I'm talking, ya know, the day after Christmas, even...)

So, when I saw this thread on the front page of the forums, it said "Do you hate daylight..." My answer to that was going to be: YES!
Long live being nocturnal!
As for the article, that's completely horrible. If I were that kid, I would want an apology as well (and maybe a little monetary compensation )

Yes, I hate daylight savings time! But only because the stinking state of Arizona refuses to go on daylight savings time like the rest of the country. Here in Page, AZ we are surrounded by daylight savings time. The Navajo Reservation is on savings time. The Res pretty much cuts us off southward from the rest of the state, geographically speaking. And Utah (just 9 miles away to the north) is on savings time. But Arizona? No! We have to be different. So that leaves Page as a tiny oasis of confusion.
And I’m easily confused.
Bah! I’m about ready to push for Page seceding from the state.
Sorry for the rant. But you did ask.

Given the possible damage to his record, a significant college scholarship doesn't seem too much to expect.

The mini-Y2K we had over changing Daylight Saving Time to start a few weeks earlier messed up my life more than the real Y2K- My alarm clock (which sets itself and remembers everything if the power goes out) waited until this past Sunday to spring forward, so I woke up an hour earlier than I wanted to. I had forgotten that I changed it manually when the early shift happened a few weeks ago.

When my kids were in high school, I can think of a couple times I called in the middle of the night. Because the school had an answering machine to take messages for the office staff to received after they arrived. So if my son was up puking in the middle of the night and running a fever, I would just go ahead and call and leave the message that he wouldn't be coming to school that day. Beat having to try to get in on the call line at 6:30 a.m. or so, especially if I was trying to make up the sleep.

If you had gone to my private school in Hong Kong, some of the honor students there calling the school at 2:00am really does not seem out of the ordinary.
