Figured I'd give it a shot. Anyone interested in meeting up, catching a concert, going to one of eight million coffee shops, hitting up the EMP, going to Pike's, or just generally causing havoc?
I know mistaben and Princess Leah are in Seattle. Anyone else relatively near here that'd be down to waste some time?

Oops, not in Seattle at the moment. Higher learning has transplanted me. I'd love to waste time...um...this summer...when I *might* be home...

Me too. I might be able to make something if it was well planned out in advance. A summer trip to Enchanted Forest might be fun...I haven't been there since I was a kid.

Sorry, I meant specifically planned eventually, but didn't want to commit to something right off the bat .

I've never been to Enchanted Forest, can you believe it? I'd love to do that or catch a Renaissance faire with you all some time. Or anything else for that matter. There's always Powell's in Portland, though that's not too fun for the kids.

Narnia said Ren Faire! Gig Harbor is my home Faire. Y'all need to meet me there anyway!
I'd be up for some kind of Seattle thing, especially if it's daytime, I don't drive much further north than there or much further south then Oly.

When is Renn Fair in Gig Harbor? I'd be up for that. We've got really good friends in Poulsbo, who my hubby could go visit while I'm out playing with you guys. He doesn't mind Hatrack, but it's not really his thing.

While I'm not opposed to attending a gathering, it will just depend on what's going on in my family. Two adults and two children means a busy household!
Saturdays are often semi-open, holidays, UW's spring break, etc.

I take it, then, that when you say Enchanted Forest, you don't mean the real one? I haven't been there since I was a kid, either...
If this were three years ago, I'd be in.

Oh boy...I meant Enchanted VILLAGE. The one near Seattle. I remembered it being called Enchanted Forest. But Six Flags says it's Enchanted Village. But now I'm thinking it would be fun to see that one up in BC. Maybe a long weekend trip for the family this summer....

I was wondering why all you'd want to come all the way down to Salem from Washington just to go to Enchanted Forest...

Awesome - I'm lovin' the response. Does someone far more organized and responsible than me want to take a stab at putting something together?

I'm up in Seattle rather frequently. With enough advanced notice, maybe I could plan my next trip around the same time as this gathering.

But Jenna! You do such a great job organizing -- and if we're looking at a weekend Ren Faire, and you have the inside scoop . . . *grin and ducks in return*

Whoa...Heather Alexander is performing in the area? Cool! Tacoma is a bit far for us for just an evening, but now I know that she's also performing in Everett the next night....
Dougie MacLean is here too, romany...I think he's performing in Seattle on the 18th. Just FYI if you've never seen him in concert before. He's really great. We were thinking of going.

Well, if my tentative plans to get a used car soon work out, I would love to go on a trip. I'll bookmark this thread and check back on it.

I may be able to make it down to Seattle. It's a bit of a drive, but with any luck I could convince my parents to let me steal the car for a while.

Wistfully contemplates the show on the 24th . . . I'd really like to go to that, Jenna -- but Nathan and I are leaving early AM the next day for a sledding trip.

That's sweet, Jenna -- you don't owe us, though! We'd love to go to the zoo with you and the children! Nathan's on mid-winter break the week of the 20th. I am taking that Friday off . . .

Hey! You bet! I can do a day trip and still function for sledding the day after! (It's just the evening stuff before big day trips that I can't hang with anymore . . . ahhhh, age.)
Will/shall this be an open Jatraquero get-together? Arrive at opening (10 a.m.?) or later in the afternoon? I hear that the weather is supposed to stay clear and cold and sunny.

So to confirm before I change the thread title - zoo on Friday the 24th at 10:30 a.m., open invitation to Hatrackers, bring a picnic lunch, kid-friendly setting?

I'll actually be in Seattle that day, although I won't be free until some point after noon, likely.

I'll talk to hubby and see if he's up for it. We haven't been to the Pt Defiance Zoo together. And hopefully it will warm up a little before the 24th. It's chilly out, though awfully pretty.

Is there no way to get this thing started a couple hours earlier? I know it means getting up early, but I fly out of Seattle around noon that day. Have, like, breakfast in a park or something so I can at least say hi?
I've never been out west before, and all of a sudden there's a Hatrack gathering the day I leave. And I can't go. to you all.

The zoo doesn't open until 9:30, but with enough coffee I'd be willing to meet you somewherew beforehand. Let's see, you'll be flying out of SeaTac, right? One area I'm not familiar with. Or, we could meet another day before that.
