Also, it doesn't look like he's on a part of the crane that comes down. He's on the boom - they usually rotate and have a lift that moves along it. The lift raises and lowers a hook; the boom stays level.

Goofus…. Humph… That’s a new one. Is that better or worse then a Doofus? Have the firemen with one of those catch things run beneath him. Maybe they could hit him with a tranquilizer dart. Fire one of those nets at him so he’s all tied up. I hear people are out there with signs says “JUMP!” I haven’t heard weather he is denying he killed her or what. He’s going to be to weak to climb down here soon without food and water. They could just start the trial there with him on the crane and if he’s guilty that could be his jail.

I get up, and nothing gets me down. You got it tough. I've seen the toughest around. And I know, baby, just how you feel. You've got to roll with the punches to get to what's real
Oh can't you see me standing here, I've got my back against the record machine I ain't the worst that you've seen. Oh can't you see what I mean?
Might as well jump. Jump! Might as well jump. Go ahead, jump. Jump! Go ahead, jump.
Aaa-ohh Hey you! Who said that? Baby how you been? You say you don't know, you won't know until we begin.
Well can't you see me standing here, I've got my back against the record machine I ain't the worst that you've seen. Oh can't you see what I mean?
Might as well jump. Jump! Go ahead, jump. Might as well jump. Jump! Go ahead, jump.
Might as well jump. Jump! Go ahead, jump. Get it and jump. Jump! Go ahead, jump.

If this is the guy I think it is, he beat his ex-girlfriend to death before climbing up on the crane, so I kinda doubt that it's a publicity stunt.

Going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing he's one seriously disturbed guy (aside from, or perhaps in conjunction with, the whole alleged homicide thing).

But those lyrics fit so well! And I quoted and gave credit. But I guess it does take up a bit of space.
Wow.. beating to death is pretty savage. If he did that he has no heart and wouldn’t feel a fall from that far.

On the other hand, he's basically a good guy, and the smart girls will get to know and love him in college.

It's mostly grad and faculty, though undergrads of all stripes also attend on a regular basis. It's open to the public, and advertised as such.
Aw, don't feel silly. I'm just teasing you.
I also said it because the department has a large female population (unusual in this discipline), so we've actually referred to ourselves as "Hot Theory Chicks," "Theorists Gone Wild," and "Women of IU Theory" in the past. It isn't all for you, ya know.

I dunno, reading the articles I feel kinda sorry for the guy. Its possible that he didn't actually kill his girlfriend. In which case his life has gone to shit in the past couple of months and the accusations of murder just finally put him over the end.
I just tend to try and give people the benefit of the doubt and it sounds as if the guy's been having a rough time.
If he did murder his girlfriend then he might have been feeling bloody guilty about it and thinking of just saving the police the trouble, but didn't have the courage to actually do it.
Personally I don't find any of it to be that funny Jay and it rather disgusts me that you do.

Even if he didn’t do it he’s still a moron for climbing up there and not coming down. If he did do it would of saved the courts a lot of time if he would have fallen.

So, Jay, aren't you a fairly devote Christian?
Doesn't the bible have quite a bit to say on being compassionate and not judging people? Wasn't that was Jesus was known for?

Ahhh….. I see what’s going on now. You’re one of them there anti-Jays. Mad at me for some conservative post so you want to be critical of me any time you see a chance. Sort of like this silly post. So….. I can play too! I think it was very compassionate that the police just didn’t shot the guy off their for trespassing and yes leaving the judging people for the juries is the right thing to do, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have an opinion about it. Or enjoy it when someone does something silly.

Jay, I think what Alcon is saying is that by laughing at this guy and being generally insensitive (e.g., "They zapped him! Cool!"), you're not displaying a whole lot of compassion.

quote: Days after a murder suspect was apprehended after spending 56 hours atop a crane, another man climbed halfway up another crane elsewhere in Buckhead Monday night.
The man, wearing a black and white striped Polo shirt, climbed about 115 feet to a platform on the crane at 9:10 p.m. and was still pacing after midnight. The construction site — at 3324 Peachtree Road, about a block from Piedmont Road — is less than a mile from the site of last week's standoff.
