In another thread SteveRogers questioned what jatraqueros were, and how you became one. Despite being told that there were no hard and fast rules, he seemed eager for a rite of passage of sorts, so I offered to create one for him. He foolishly accepted, and rivka graciously offered to help. Hobbes questioned my qualifications, as compared to some I am a newbie myself, but as he did not step up to the challenge himself I am declaring myself qualified.
SteveRogers, this is your Rite of Passage into Jatraquerohood. When you answer the below questions, I will declare you a jatraquero. What this means, basically, is that I will consider you a full-fledged member of the community, and defend you against anyone who calls you a newbie. Because once you get through this, you will not be a newbie. If you're acting really silly I might concede that you're a newish jatraquero, but a jatraquero you will be nonetheless!
In deference for the fact that you have real schoolwork to do, the questions are mostly in short answer format. You may, and will need to, use all of the resources of Hatrack at your disposal. This includes other Hatrackers, if you can convince them to help you. Part of the community, after all, is the community... we help each other out, answer questions in the areas of our expertise, and point people in the right direction. I hope that if you get stuck you will ask for help and not answers, and I hope that the community will help you.
Many of the questions have multiple correct answers. If you take this seriously, it would be difficult to get a "wrong" answer... but I reserve the right to ask you to reconsider any answers before declaring the Rite complete. Feel free to answer the questions in any order, in individual posts... you don't need to save it all up and post your entire answer at once. And take as long as you need, there is no time limit.
To the Peanut Gallery... SteveRogers has asked for this, and is entering into it in good faith. Please restrict your participation to the friendly, helpful variety. And please don't go posting answers or hints if he doesn't ask for help, here or anywhere else. This includes just bumping the relevant threads. Thank you.
Without further delay...

The only one I don't know is the last one, although I might be able to speculate. I await eagerly the answer.

Well there's been rather large gaps in my posting. Plus I never really came to this "side" of the board. I couldn't get the ebb and flow of it. Of Course now that the other side is a virtual barren waste land I had no choice but to go to the other side.

We old timers don't have to step in, being initiated into the great Hatrack circle isn't a right, it's a privilege! One we don't extend to just anyone either.

Question #6 is the most evil question ever. I stayed up half the night trying to find an answer to it.

And afr, anyone could be the answer to #1. I think only 2 of them only have one possible person as the answer.

But it wouldn't be patriotic to ask CaptainAmerica* to do what I can't do myself.
Nope, we're jes gonna hafta band*together as a(n elite and super secret) n00bs4ever clique while you ol'timers rock in your chairs and reminisce about the good ol'days when ya hadda fight off sabertooths while walkin' through snow kneedeep to a mammoth to get to school
* Speaking of which, how about CaptAmer&Buckyball for a band name? Just to confuse everyone you can be introduced as "cap tamer ampers and buck a ball".

The beauty of this is that you could learn about every item on the list by sticking around and paying attention for around six months.
Of course, with less than a thousand posts in four years, I'd be the type of lurker to say something like that.

If I'll have to write like that, forget it. I'll go with TomD, rivka, Dagonee and others.

The significance of this quote is………………I think it might be in the Princess Bride but for me the significance of this quote is because that is exactly the kind of person I am…….I make jokes that shouldn’t be funny but are…..and tinker with useless objects….

To report it to an administrator or the moderator.....and it should be done if a post is extrememly inappropriate or offensive towards another member

quote: quote: 15. Find and link to a picture of the hatracker who resembles OSC, and the thread discussing the resemblance. That isn't fair; there is no such person.

punwit, he obviously meant it in the ironic way. What is more ironic, is that he wasn't even thinking about the person everyone was thinking about, he's such an egocentric.
(did I complicate this enough?)
