Does anyone else find themselves held hostage by all the cool things that this site lets you do? Your profile, your recommendations, writing reviews, rating other people's reviews, making listmania lists, reading other people's listmania lists, exploring people you know, writing birthday reminders, creating profiles for friends, rating items you own...the list goes on and on!
And sometimes I'm just there doing nothing!! It's amazing! (And I'm not even that much of a junkie. I've seen certain people that have written upwards of 3,000 reviews!!)
Is this a sickness? Am I the only one that has it? Posts: 6415 | Registered: Jul 2000

But I stay away from Amazon.com very deliberately. Kind of like staying away from bars for an alcoholic.

I've never bought anything on Amazon... I'm not sure I ever will, they screwed a good friend of mine out of a lot of money (by sending her something and charging her for something she didn't order, then refusing to pay her the money or the postage for returning it back). So yeah, (shrug)

Like I said, I haven't really done much compared to others, but I'm baffled at the amount of time I could spend there doing virtually nothing.
Although, it doesn't really compare to Hatrack's ability to help me spend my time doing the same type of thing.
PS Abby, what happened to your friend sucks. If you buy used stuff through Amazon, sometimes it's impossible to track down the item or get the money back from it. I've bought a lot of stuff through them from alternate sellers and not, and I've never had a problem. I'm sure it happens though.

I get a little anxious when I order things through Amazon via individual sellers, but I've made it a rule only to buy from people with a solid sales history. I got Card's WoG book "Sarah", a sunset bread book currently out of print, and a brand new MST3K set that was 12 dollars cheaper than what Amazon was offering. None of them had any real problems.
Narnia: we have a lot of the same tastes in books...

Not sure it was from a dealer. Didn't really understand the whole story... But I'm still a little leery of buying ANYTHING online... :/
