I heard on the radio this morning that he had slipped into a coma (unconfirmed report out of Israel however).

Well, I know this morning they said he had taken a "turn for the worse" and his situation was "grave" so I expected it to happen shortly. But haven't heard for sure.
And something about an emergency meeting of the leaders under him to pick a successor.

He was reported dead by Luxembourg's prime minister who later retracted it, claiming a misunderstanding.
Just saw a press conference -- sort of -- of a woman walking out from the French hospital, saying "Mr. Arafat is not dead. I thank you." Then she turned and walked back in. Has to be the best, most concise press conference, ever.

Cool - knowing where the rumor started helps judge things.
Sounds like he's alive, but not expected to last long. Or, Adam's right and they want to have a successor picked before his death is announced. I can see a hospital going along with that.

I wonder what the Palestinian response will be to this and if we will actually see claims of "The Jews killed him", "The Doctor was a Jew and he poisoned him", etc. etc.
I hope none of that happens, but you can't control what someone else thinks or says.

Twinky - have to admit, not sure. The TV was on behind while I was getting ready to post the "Arafat dead at 75" story to our site.
