I'm think I read a similar article about Mexico a while ago. Since we're putting so many dams on the Colorado river, the water is just a small stream by the time it crosses the boarder to Mexico.
Water crises in desert areas are becoming more and more of a concern.

I think that is what the core of the Middle East issues are about. Land with water is so valuable that we, as water-rich Americans, cannot even fathom it.
I just got back from Phoenix, a city which expands farther and farther out into the desert every time I go home. More and more water is taken from the rivers and the ground. There has to be an end to it some time, and then what happens?
