That 25 is the total number for all cities and countries I believe. It's now 27 signed up for every city I've tried.

Hrm. Maybe someone should inform them about this website? Someone interested in OSC probably made that meetup site not knowing about Hatrack.

Yeah, I'm sure it must have meetings for just about any sort of interests at all. Someone from hatrack should keep up with it just to see who is over there and sucker th<ahem> welcome them into hatrack.
When do they get around to asking for money?

There's a premium membership level, but the functionality of the free normal membership is great/enough for organizational purposes, and they guarantee it won't decrease (though they're of course always looking for additional perks to give premium members).

I just find it kind of creepy that the next meetup day is actually very near to the BIG meetup day in Chicago. Maybe someone should let them know...?

Ok, I joined. I don't suspect much will result from it, though. I do think that we should post KamaCon photos there, though, or Endercon photos, or Shinda photos, or CFC photos, or Pac-NW photos, or W.MA photos....

I wonder if these people are really fans of OSC... well, the people in the pictures look like nerds, so it must be legitimate.

All right . . . I'll check out the local Oly crew. And I won't rub anyone's noses in it that there is a whole wonderful Hatrack community out there . . . Posts: 5609 | Registered: Jan 2003

I always wonder about that. I am lizarda. Eliz and Elizabeth were taken. That is understandablebecause Elizabeth is a common name, but I doubt Farmgirl is high on the list.

Beverly was taken too. What's up with that? Maybe they are our alter-egos from another dimension?

There is one username pool for ALL Meetup groups. So it doesn't mean there is (necessarily) another Farmgirl, Lupus, Elizabeth, or beverly who are OSC fans and signed up before you. There are a LOT of Meetup groups. And some have been around for years.

The OSC meet-up list . . . this seems suspicious . . . and rather familiar . . . (Jaws theme playing now)

S Keillan (Lafayette, IN) Big fan of the Ender books. I went to EnderCon 2002 in Utah and had a great time.
chynnacards (Toronto, ON)
Elysse (Milwaukee, WI) The Ender's Game quartet summarizes my own private theology and epistemology. I can't stand Scott's political stances, but somehow I agree with the premises of his prose completely.
brandon (Sacramento, CA)
AISRAELTAX (Nashua, NH) Just learned of this group. Have been a Card fan since 1997 and have attempted to read every book he has published. Just began collecting. Rachel

menolly (San Diego, CA)
Hidden_Enigma (Long Beach, CA)
rivka (Santa Monica, CA)
Raiders (Grand Junction, CO)
Jennabug_123 (Salt Lake City, UT) Hey everyone! My name is Jenna. I love Orson Scott Card for many reasons, he is a great writer and I love all his books that I've read also, I love the fact that he is LDS. It would be cool to talk to other fans of his! Much Loves -Jen
kalypsy (Dallas-Plano, TX)
Kwea (Springfield, MA)
mackillian (Manchester, NH)
Leonide (Reading, PA)
Boondocker (Tulsa, OK)
beverlybeebop (Provo-Orem, UT) I am a regular on the Hatrack.com forum. I have read most of OSC's books and feel like he is my personal hero. He has influenced my life more than any other writer.
Papa Moose (Ventura, CA) I'm known at least as well by the name Papa Moose as by my real name, especially among OSC fans. I also was at Endercon 2002, and these two pieces of information are somewhat related.

I want to know who menolly is -- she's in San Diego, and she's clearly a Pern fan as well. But she has her email blocked. Not that it matters much, since I've no plan to pay for a Meetup membership.

Ah, Pern . . . Menolly was my heroine as an unhappy adolescent.
Killashandra is my vision of competent, capable women . . .
Kwea - are you sure you have seniority? I just registered yesterday and my SN is at the top of the list. The others registered before that . . . so, I think that being closer to the top of the list might mean less seniority . . . Posts: 5609 | Registered: Jan 2003

I'm pretty sure you will always come up the top of your own list, unless you click on another city.
Anyway, I've been a Meetup member for over a year, so I should have seniority over all of you. BWAHAHA!

Now that's funny - I get to be senior here in Oly, huh. I wonder if I'll have a solitary dinner at the chosen place . . . which, if it is Applebee's, has really lovely salads . . . nummy.
