Are you going to be touring with your husband? If so I think it should be some sort of requirement that all Hatrackers who show up give you a great big hug or something. Or at least a $20 bill for just plain being that cool.
Assuming that Wally succeeds in drawing KACard here . . . the font thread made me curious about something. When OSC types a manuscript, does he use courier font, or does he use some other font instead?

Theodore Cleaver's older brother. I suppose I could have called him Eddie instead, but I didn't want to unintentionally give offense. Posts: 13680 | Registered: Mar 2002

Icarus: He uses New Times Roman font, I believe. He mentioned at boot camp that he only uses fonts where the h's have little feet, anyway.
And he doesn't like MS Word. Not a bit.
While at boot camp, I actually spoke with Kristine before speaking to Scott. (It took me two whole days to work up enough courage to stand within six feet of Scott.) She is one of those people with whom one is comfortable instantly. She is sincere, genuine, affable . . . she's awesome.

I remember his column objecting to MS's strategies to invade your computer. I thought that was why he switched away from Windows and MSWord. Beyond that, which makes some sense, both of the majoy WYSIWYG WPs seem close enough to equal to me.
And I agree with your comments about KACard. Posts: 13680 | Registered: Mar 2002

When you ask him if he remembers you, you need to use lots of details like "Don't you remember? I was the weird one in the orange shirt at the signing in Chatanooga back in 98? I had a hat on?" Yeah, he'll love it!

Maybe if we all printed our screen name(s) in big black bold letters and waved a "We are Hatrack Family" banner???? Posts: 5609 | Registered: Jan 2003

I remember the first signing at Endercon, I was there with my Mom, and I was feeling a bit nervous. I didn't know anyone (or who anyone was at least) and I'd just used up a whole lot of points and favors with my family to get there without a clue of what was going to happen. Then KACard comes over and shakes my hand and asks if I'm really Hobbes. I felt right at home from then on.

ITA. I met her at EnderCon while I was waiting on the book-signing line, and she greeted me with a big hug and a smile of welcome. I liked her immediately.
But -- please don't anybody be offended if we don't recognize people we've met before. Especially people we like (for some reason I have a WAY better memory for the faces of people I really hate ) So, just remind us of your name and we'll be thrilled to see ya again!
Anybody who is nice to Hobbes is a friend of ours -- you just might have to point it out to people with old brains and old eyes. Posts: 780 | Registered: Jul 1999

That means that if they recognize you it means they really hate you. You guys better wear dark shades and a hat.

Is it ok to email you our pictures so you'll remember us? If not, just ignore anything currently in your inbox from me, and forget I asked.

I don't expect Kristine (or OSC for that matter) to remember what I look like, though I suppose I would do a double take if I told them I was Hobbes and they still didn't know me...
Besides which, if OSC does remember me he may remember that really stupid question I asked him at EnderCon that I think should be stricken from history.
[EDIT: I remember what Papa Moose looks like, especially his hand which seemed to be continually faster and higher than mine. ]

I'd hate to think how I'd be recognized, then. Maybe I could get a shirt that says "<Relieved I'm not wearing that other shirt.>"
