Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

Last Week's Goals

I had a successful writing week this week. I'm still dedicating the two evenings each week (Tue / Thu) to writing at the local bookstore. Each night I only spend about 2 hours or so there. However, this week I wrote over 5,200 words in those 4 hours. I'm quite happy with this. Last night was the most difficult of the two nights this week because I just could not get into the flow. I was able to get 2,200 words written because I pushed myself. Again, treating my writing like a career has been incentive to push forward.

My goals for next week:

This next week I may not do much writing. I have about 25 or so scenes left to write before THE END. I may want to detail the remaining scenes this week instead. The week after that I have an entire week off from work so if I refine the outlines for these final scenes, I feel that I can write THE END during that vacation.

What did I learn this week?

As I've been writing these last few weeks, I've seen my writing improve. Not much, but it has improved. One of the shortcomings I have when I write first drafts is that I usually do not write any internal exposition with the PoV character. So, the reader does not know the character's feelings or thoughts. I've begun to start writing these things as I've become more comfortable and at ease with the writing. I have a long way to go but I see that as long as I continually treat my writing as a career and write at a consistent time this will improve.

So far, treating my writing as a career has helped A LOT.

Last Week's Goals:

DREAMER'S ROSE: Continue to let it rest.
Easy goal.

MAGE STORM: Keep no less than six queries out at any time.
Still eight out.

SEVEN STARS: Write all the way through to "THE END".
Not quite. But, to be fair, I ended up adding a chapter and an epilogue. And that's exactly how much I have left to write--one chapter and the epilogue. And I'm already 3 pages into the chapter.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Yes.

Next Week's Goals:

On the Shelf:
THE SHAMAN'S CURSE
THE IGNORED PROPHECY

I'm jotting down ideas of how these two might be changed.

DREAMER'S ROSE:
Continue to let it rest.

MAGE STORM:
Keep no less than six queries out at any time.

SEVEN STARS:
Write all the way through to "THE END".

BLOOD WILL TELL:
Begin making some of the revisions suggested by the latest readers.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
