Anyway, I'm nearing the 50,000 words mark (about six pages shy) which I hope to finish this weekend. The story keeps mutating into something larger.
No new stories out this week, but some new concepts for shorts and flashes.
I did my first critique in another writers workshop (Historic Fiction) yesterday, too.
Goals this week: Finish part one; work steadily through all slow times.
How's everyone else coming along?
I expect a drop off for NaNoWriMo, though, it's fine to still pop in here and keep us updated.
So, goals this week: No stressing. Keep working on my newest short story (characters long established, plot almost figured out!), remind myself that I LIKE my story for the newest WOTF quarter and that it thus should not be a chore to work on it. =P
I owe a bunch of people reviews, but my general ennui this week has kept me unproductive. Hopefully I'll be in a better mood this week!
This week's goal is to get the next chapter finished, or at least write on it everyday. I don't like doing more than one project at a time so until this is done I'm not working on anything else. (now that I say it I'll probably decide to work on something else)
Progress: Hmph. I researched alternate names for my monsters (crawlies doesn’t cut it). I think I found the right fit. Steller, huh?
1. I moved a few little things around in the outline.
2. I started a spreadsheet to list out the scenes, but got stuck (too anal).
3. I read through my stuff on Cael and still don’t know what to do with him (merge with MC, keep as side-kick or POV character, kill off, or trash).
Same goals for next week.
yep.
So... this week, I'm in the hospital with the little man. We're at USA women and Children's, Hey you wanna hear something funny? The burn specialist, Her name is Dr. Frye. Get it? Burn Specialist = Dr. Frye. (ahahaha!)
That's my excuse this week. My sense of humor may be returning, but it is soaked with cynicism. I'm writing, but not the bestest I can do. I have been reading. Sorcerer's Son and Graveyard both, I'm up to date on. Just a little slow with analyzing. I'll be here for a while and needing reading material so anyone wanting to send, send away.
(just don't be surprised if my sleep depravity shows in any advising or opinions.)
My goals for this week: To be able to find enough order to make a goal.
'grats to all of ya'll writing. Makes me wish I could jump back in right now.
My ten year old once jumped off the futon and landed on a hotwheels car, inbedding it in his foot. Surgical removal. One of the other boys was hopping a picket fence and landed on a picket. Three days ICU - thirty stitches to close the gaping wound, and they were afraid he had punctured his intestine. Kid you not.
Some where in the future, something REALLY bad has been avoided - because he's learned something about grabbing stuff he doesn't know about. I think. We took down the picket fence, by the way. Remind me sometime and I'll tell you about the exploding tuna can and the samurai warrior in my living room.
I could add all of my stories here too, including the fact that my 5 year old just got her foot broken when a truck ran over it. She was way past due for an accident--she's such a daredevil.
So, I am almost caught up with critiquing, and BC, send along chapter 4 and I'll read it when I'm done with chapter 3. Next week starts Nanowrimo, and so my goals for this week are rather odd and varied. They include:
Make and freeze some meals so that I have less things to worry about in November.
Finish and turn in the Gen Pets story, which probably stinks, but it was fun to write.
Do some more characterization for my Nanowrimo project. One character I thought would have a small role just informed me that she has been promoted to major character. I'm a little worried about this change, because thinking about her tends to unearth some of my more deeply buried memories. Still, the plot twist that she enables makes me shiver with anticipation.
