IMPORTANT: Before reading on, I want to let you all know this novel is based on the game of StarCraft. It involves the same characters, aliens, etc of the game. The only thing that is different is the storyline, which I've set to pre-StarCraft.
Please don't flame me or disregard this topic because of that fact, I'm just a huge fanboy of the game, and I'm hoping to submit a 'Fan-Fiction' good enough to win the Annual Prize.
Note from the Administrator (aka "She Who Must Be Obeyed"):
Please do not post material you have written involving copyrighted material when you don't own the copyright.
You may ask if there is anyone who will look at such material for you, but please do not post even one line of it.
As Mike Munsil says below, we are not here for work written in someone else's copyrighted world.

yeh mate thats alright. good luck in the competition.
i dont know if your allowed to swear in the comp but you probably shouldnt at this site. ur story sounds good to me but I don't think the reader will feel like getting close to your protagonist if he's talking about his own adventures so you may want to consider doing it in third person.
Also there's a lot of random information thrown in here like the spider mines. you don't really need to tell the reader about it before he uses it. try doing the same thing as he uses them. until then, they're not really that important. i wouldn't really know as mine seem to be full of random useless information but i hope that helps somewhat.
quote:First of all, please be aware that our concern for author's rights means that Hatrack River Writers Workshop is not for stories about someone else's characters or settings; no STAR TREK stories, no ALVIN MAKER stories, no MURDER, SHE WROTE stories, and so on. These, and others like them, are copyrighted and such stories are only published under very special circumstances. We'd like you to be able to see your own stories published; professionally, if possible.
This is fairly clear. Please edit or delete any posts that do not follow this guideline.
Further, this is a minor-friendly site. Please also edit the cursing to keep it so.
If you like, I can direct you to other sites that won't restrict you in this way.

Troy, as Mike has said, this is a family-friendly site, so swearing can be indicated with strategically placed asterisks, but should not be spelled out.
Also, if your work has a lot of offensive stuff in it of any kind, it would be better if you just told us about it and asked if anyone is willing to read an emailed copy and give you feedback that way.
