With the resolution of my goals for this new year, I will be in need of some help critiquing.

I would like to get and work with someone who has recently started a novel. I bagan a rewrite a few weeks ago, so in a sense I am beginning again. The thought is that we could bounce ideas, in regard to our respective stories, off each other as we go, then share a chapter or so as we finish each one.

It would help me to keep on schedule, and help with some of the crazy ideas bouncing arround in my head. It also gives me perspective and motivation to apply to my novel. I would hope the return to be the same.

If anyone is interested please let me know and we can begin correspondance.

Thanks,
Mike

Then perhaps I could be the right person for you. I have a 48k fantasy WIP and with some work the first chapter could be ready for perusing in a day.

I'm five chapters into mine and taking a slight pause to work on a WotF story. I'd be interested in some swapping and idea bouncing.

Mine is sf, not quite sure this one would be considered space opera but it's on the soft sf side. I'm trying to target about 90,000 words.

I have three WIPs, one will be finished way before the other two.

It's about 56,000 words-ten chapters- now and I hope to add another 24,000 at least. That's words not chapters.

That is where I could use some idea exchanges, I'm not sure if I have enough ideas to stretch it that far.

I could begin to revise of the first chapter even while I'm redoing the ending.

It's Urban Fantasy --all three WIPs are. And I have the same problem with the other two--adding enough words. One is probably three fourths done and the other is around one third done.

I'm also 5 chapters into my novel and my New Year's Resolution is to focus primarily on my novel until it is finished.

Since we have a few people interested, maybe we should pair off based on the novel subgenres? Presumably someone who is writing fantasy should pair off with someone else who is writing (and is more familiar with) fantasy.

Osiris suggestion sounds good. But I can go either way.

Another idea is to run it sort of like the WoTF groups run, where we all share our chapters with each other. It might actually be more beneficial for everyone that way, though it will be more work.

Y'all might want to look at the topic on novel critique suggestions, because there is more than one way to read and give feedback on book-length works.
