This is a speculative fiction convention for writers, artists, and fans.

DW, how about putting the bottom list in chronological order, too? That may help people choose conferences that fit into their schedules.

From Kevin J. Anderson:

Calling all Aspiring Writers!

I know a lot of my fans are aspiring writers. When I was starting out, I needed straightforward, practical advice on how to make a professional career, but I had to learn by trial-and-error.

Rebecca and I have teamed up with three other award-winning and
international bestselling authors -- David Farland, Brandon Sanderson, and Eric Flint -- to put together an intensive, no-nonsense 3-day seminar. We'll be giving it March 19-21 at the Pasadena Convention Center.

If you're a serious writer, whether a newcomer or an established author looking to kick the career up to the next level, we hope you can join us.

For more details, see http://www.superstarswritingseminars.com .

The Dean Wesley Smith & Kris Rusch workshops

http://www.deanwesleysmith.com/?page_id=50

Last year I did the Kris 'n Dean Show in June, and loved it. An ideal workshop for anyone who has NEVER done a workshop before, but is serious about wanting to become a pro, full-time writer. Kris 'n Dean give you the "full monty" on the business. The good, the bad, the ugly. I'd dare say it helped a few people in my class decide to NOT pursue the career. Me? I wish I'd done it ten years ago!! Awesome stuff, heck of a location, and you get two great, long-time pro writers in one package deal.

In February I am doing their Novel and Short Story for Anthology workshops. I expect those will be every bit as good as last year's workshop. A full week! Very excited to attend.

Here is a nice link with some suggestions for attending a Writers Conference and a couple of conferences listed

http://content.mkt931.com/mson/2010/03/31/wn7WUh8bElbl/index.html

I particularly like the week long Mystery Novel class (Nebraska Writers Conference) with Harley Jane Kozak where you use your own completed manuscript throughout the class.

I just checked out Hawaii to see who the presenters will be and apparently it has gone out of business. I had always wanted to go. I guess I just waited too long.

Yeah, I was going to go this year too but looks like Nora Jones bankrupted them last year.
