Just got this from my Pedestal newsletter. For those that don't know, they are a SFWA publication.

quote:
Starting with the June 2009 issue, we will be implementing a pay rate change.
For poetry, we will begin paying $40 per accepted poem (from $30).
For fiction, we will begin paying $.08 per word (from $.05). Our new length restriction for submitted fiction will be 4200 words.

And for those who would like more information, their submission guidelines are here.

They are closed to submissions at the moment, however, but will open again on the 28th of April. (There is a list of closure dates at the bottom of the above webpage.)

How often do they really buy SF/F? I admit it's one I haven't gotten around to reading (hard to read everything) but I have the impression they're mainly literary. Might be a mistaken impression.

Oh great another pro market going down to a rather low word count limit how nice :-)

Thanks for the info though.

The couple issues I've read were totally non-speculative.
But they're still on the SFWA list, so I submit there anyway.
In general that word-count limit is good for me. Usually I stick around 3k.
