Do you have a favourite online F&SF e-zine that regularly publishes short fiction? What's its URL? Why do you like it? How would you characterize its content? What do you like as a reader? IGMS? FFO? Polluto? Bewildering Stories? Strange Horizons? Baen's Universe? Ray Gun Revival? Other ...?
Curious,
Pat
Abyss and Apex (http://www.abyssandapex.com/) publish four or five stories plus a flash or two, every quarter. More of a mix than BCS but with some very impressive work at times.
Author's disclaimer: I have sold work to both magazines, so I could be biased.
I second tchernabyelo's, particularly regarding BCS.
Perhaps I didn't ask the question clearly.
Even if your favourite on-line publication is on the list I mentioned (IGMS, etc), it would be interesting to know which ones people like and why.
Or, I imagine there could be very few replies because either, like me, everyone buys mostly paper novels, short story mags and anthologies and reads little on-line, or those who do read on-line wish to avoid offending editors of on-line markets, some of whom contribute to Hatrack (and maybe more lurk, who knows).
I frequent FFO (of course), and it's the only ezine I read faithfully, but there are others--if you're not talking pro-sub markets--that are good for reading:
Shimmer, Pedestal and Chizine. That's it off the top of my head, for now.
I second ChiZine as an excellent example. Abyss & Apex is another good one, and they've recently gone pro too.
