Does anyone here write/publish under a pen name? This is something that I would like to do at least with any early work that I might do and I have no idea how to go about it. If anyone knows anything it would be most appreciated.
Thank you Umi

Personally and Professionally I think once you build a name you stick with it.
Exceptions being if this "early" work is all in porn/erotica.

Here are two blog posts on pseudonyms from agents:
Both are informative, but the second in particular goes into a lot of detail.
Hope that helps!

I'd rather not. There are all sorts of reasons for using a pseudonym, but right now I need all the ego-boost I can get---why would I skip out on some by publishing under a name that's not mine? I don't even do that here.
I think I've submitted a total of one story under another name. A stab at a Harlequin Romance---these things are all published under female names, and I came up with one and stuck it on there.

Hmm...thank you all. I think I've considered it mostly because I have no idea what my work is really worth. I think I'll post one 13 lines under this name and see what happens.

Quit obsessing. Focus on the work first. It doesn't matter what you want to call yourself before you have a book deal. For all I know, to the agent I've been submitting my work to, I'm "Rejection Slip #5001". Once you get an agent or a publisher, ask them if a pen-name might be an option. Before that, it's just a waste of time and energy.
