Is there anyone here who knows about screenwriting, and more importantly I think, how one goes about getting scripts to film producers? Admittedly, I am very new to this subject, but I am very interested in learning how to write scripts. I've already looked up some basics on those websites which I have been able to find and am trying my hand at a few simple trials. As for how one goes about getting a script turned into a movie, I'm clueless. I've tried researching at various film studio's websites, but those are all geared towards promoting movies. I didn't assume I would find very much pertinent information, but I did hope to find maybe an e-mail or something that would give me more information. Does anyone know anything about this? I would love to hear whatever you know, because I am completely at a loss. Thanks a lot!

Go get a copy of "The Complete Book of Scriptwriting" by J. Michael Straczynski. Recommended to me by a successful Hollywood screenwriter as being the only book on the subject worth reading. (No, it wasn't Straczynski.)

Last I heard, getting a Hollywood agent is an absolute must. As far as I've heard, the people at the studios and production companies and whatnots won't even look at anything over-the-transom---they're too afraid of getting sued if they do anything similar. And a lot of 'em are closed shops where you have to know someone to get something in to them.
