for a novella? Novel? (Young Adult and Adult). Is there a standard limit for paperback vs hardcover?

I think we've gone over this before, but here are some loose standards:

Novel: 70K and larger
Novella: 25-40K
Novelette: 10-25K

Between 40K and 70K, it's loose. Quite often YA novels fall in this length. Some novels are less than 70K, but it's rare these days.

Top limit: Isn't any, but unpublished writers might consider no more than 100K. Any longer and you might run into resistance.

Anybody can correct this according to their own understanding.

I'm a bit brain dead at the moment, but I asked this selfsame question a few months ago, so when you do your search, look for my name. There were a lot of good answers. I'd link to it, but as I said, I'm a little brain dead...ugh...
