Three days ago I bought a book on writing, 'Gotham Writer's Workshop Writing Fiction'. I've learned a lot from how-to books, but this one is good for something I currently need more than another lesson on plot: It has writing exercises that keep me going for several hours each day, way past what the text asks.
Thought I'd pass it along for anyone needing a startup kick.

Very nice, I had been wanting something similar to that. Those often help generate good writing skills and often times wonderful ideas.
I will check that out now, on this 99 cent book store my parents got me the OSC writing books at.

This is a great book. Very comprehenisive, and is one of the must-have books in the writing-books collection.

Thanks for the tip! We're about to head to the book store, so I'll keep an eye out for it.

You're welcome! I've been writing rabid for three days now (since the day after I bought it) and I'll probably write another six or eight hours today. Definately a good kick in the pants. I have two complete rough draft shorts from it and lots of useful fragments, and that's besides the good advice. I dread finishing it (and I'm almost to the end), because I'm enjoying this so much. I might just read it again and do all the exercises again, too.
