Hi there everybody, this is my first post, so hopefully it's a decent one.

I've never tried to get anything published, I've always been a "just for fun" writer, but I have always wanted to become professional. Now that I'm eighteen, I've mustered up the power in me to put pen to paper, and paper to envelope, and envelope to a publisher, for atleast a magazine submission. So heres my question, what are the requirements of Manuscripts?

Are there specific measurements it needs to be, in both the font size, and the space away from the edge of the paper? Are theyre templates online to make the "perfect" looking manuscript? Are there fonts that you should use specifically for manuscripts?

I would hate to write something out and send it to a publisher, just to get rejected because my font size was 13.5, instead of 13.

Thanks

Make sure you check the submission guidelines of the market or agent that you send your manuscript to -- many have formating requirements that are unique to themselves. That is one of the keys to looking professional when you write -- know the market you are approaching.

Once you have one manuscript in proper format, you can always use it as a template.

Pick up a copy of "the first five pages" and read it. If you want to have an idea of what happens to your story once in the hands of the place you want to accept it. It also explains how to work you way into the upper 15% of the stories that might get read.
