As some of you may be aware the Quills Awards ceremony will be held Oct 11th.

An interesting article on the subject:

The impression I get from this article is that the Quills reader poll was a flop. On the other hand, it's the FIRST year. What expectation did the report (and others) have?
Sure, it could have used more publicity, but I'm sure the people in charge were limited on advertising budget or maybe were even hoping this would go the way of the unground-to-superstar as so many things online do.

Thoughts? Opinions? Did you vote?

Wish I had heard of this beforehand. Maybe next year, if they're still around.

Although -- I'm tempted to say that sales might be a more accurate way of gaging book popularity, but the Oprah and elitist factors probably skew it.

I only heard of it via a banner at Hatrack. I'm not sure if it was viewable from here or just on the other forum. I got the impression you had to be a member of something to vote.

Nope, no membership needed.
It's like a People's Choice for writing, though there's no cash prize for the writers.

If I've seen it, I've forgotten it already. What are the Quills, who gives them out, and what do they judge?
