I keep seeing the abreviation IMO, and I have not the slightest blessed clue as to what it means. I'd be very grateful if someone would fill me in. Thanks!

In My Opinion.

A very comprehensive listing of Internet abreviations and Chatroom Language can be found at:
http://www.commnet.com.eg/chat-abrv.html

There are a lot more there than are commonly used, so don't go nuts, but it'll help you decode the Newspeak.

I've more commonly seen IMHO, the H stands for humble.

I always thought the H stood for honest...

Thanks everyone for helping me out.

It may have been changed to honest, but back on the old RELAY chat in the late 80's it stood for humble. The smily face with colon close paren came from relay chat also.

I thought it still did stand for humble. At least that's how I use it.

IMHO = in my HUMBLE opinion

honesty got nothing to do with it.

It means humble to me too. I don't know how it's used today because I haven't been in a chatroom for probably more than a decade.

I'm probably just reading the wrong interpretation into it, seeing that I picked up most of my chat acronyms from just feeling my way.

BTW, my opinions are rarely humble -- FWIW.

But they're always honest, nay? So my interpretation is the better one
