Did anyone else catch this weeks installment of OSC's "Uncle Orson Reviews Everything"?
It was really scathing, although I think it was right on. I knew that it was going to be bad before I even clicked on it. This had the same feel as "Dreamcatcher". It wasn't the same story, but told with the same lame dispassionate prose that afflicts many seasoned veterans.
Thoughts?

Wow, scathing is right! I guess I'll take a pass on this, supposedly King's last book (yeah, and if you buy that one, I've got some swampland in Jersey, cheap!)
King is hit or miss for me. He has written some absolutely brilliant stories (the stories in Different Seasons come to mind) and some really atrocious ones (apparently this, but there are others out there). I suppose a writer as prolific as King can't drip pearls from his pen every time, but its always a disappointment when actually crap leaks out.

It is disappointing, but also inspiring. Means there might be a chance for us yet
Oh, and this isn't King's last yet. He has several more years in him before retirement.

Everythings Eventual was suposed to be the last. I think he is digging closet books out. PLease if I make the big time that I don't become compliant and hire an outside editor if my publisher doesn't see the need to edit me.

I had this same feeling about a middle book I read in the Dark Tower series or whatever it was called: There were things in there which for me as a reader were terrible, but completely repairable mistakes. I thought, doesn't anyone have the balls to tell him that he needs to fix this? Or do they tell him and he doesn't listen?

Luc, it's probably a little of both.

Though I haven't read it, OSC sounds like he knows what he's talking about. And (so I don't sound like a loyal-as-a-puppy yes-man) I've read books of Stephen King where it DOES seem like he just doesn't care anymore. None come to mind, but I guarantee they're there.
That having been said, how old is OSC? (hint hint)
