I have to say, as someone who read the books just before the series came out, the people who watch and don't read don't bother me in the slightest. Song of Ice and Fire is the Everest of fantasy epics (well, okay maybe Wheel of Time series is, but even I couldn't get into that), so I don't blame the vast majority for not wanting to wade into something that big. For a lot of people, the entire series is more than they'll read in a couple of years.
And I actually love that a lot of people who did read the books taped their friends knowing what was coming. My text and FB blew up Sunday night when it happened from friends who knew I'd read the books, when I turned into a shoulder to cry on for a dozen people. It was hard to console them.
"There there, don't worry, this is as bad as it gets...except it's really not."
I haven't seen the episode yet, I haven't actually watched past the first season, but it sounds like they did the Red Wedding justice and got it right. Kudos to them.

I only have one friend who watches the show and has not read the books. His reaction was great fun.
I had to rewind the scene a few times when a bearded Robb man was killed to make sure it wasn't the Blackfish.

Come on now, you need to say what you consider the first.

On the bright side, depending on how they break up the events of the book, the NEXT wedding in line in that book is actually quite the fan treat.
You know what they say, third time's a charm.

While this is true, in theory, I still think that the grim reality of watching a young man (apparently) choke to death is going to be pretty horrifying. Especially if they drag it out, and he's clawing at his neck while his eyes bulge and he turns purple and all that. It's a terrible way to die. Even a monster like Joffrey, that's not going to be fun for many to watch.
They've got a lot to cover in the finale. With the episode named for Dany's subplot, I guess they probably won't have time to do Joffrey's wedding. A shame, there are a lot of people hungry for revenge that may have to wait quite a while for it.

Ah, yeah. Absent minded. I'd have to go with the season 5 finale of The Shield.

With that particular thing, it's almost always sooner rather than later.
Yet I still find myself watching it every time.
Damn.

Hitler's going to find out about a lot of things before this show/book series is over.

My enjoyment was significantly tarnished by some asshole private messaging me "BLAH AND BLARG SOMETHING AT THE RED WEDDING" (Replace with what you will).

I'm just mad that I knew this was coming, and I missed my chance to watch at live at a local bar that has been playing the episodes and see some great reactions in person.

My favorite comment was by a friend of mine in Wisconsin. "Sort of makes you appreciate the chicken dance."

Apparently Cersei was quite upset by the whole thing:
I thought it was pretty funny watching on the shocked comments on facebook. It reminded me of all the thoughts I had years ago when I read the book. I have told myself several times that I will never read another one of his books...yet I keep getting them, and have the RRetrospective sitting on my bookshelf.
