I just read that John Holbrook Vance has passed away. He was 96 years old.

I have read quite a few of his books. In fact, once I had gotten into Fantasy and was looking for more stuff to read. Our local library did not have much choice in this area, but fortunately they did have the Lyonesse trilogy. Admittedly, I had to read it in a translated version, but I was still struck by the use of language.
Later on, I found out that Mr. Vance was more of a science fiction writer. After finishing the Lyonesse trilogy, I moved on to the Cadwal trilogy. These are still amongst my favorite books. I am currently re-reading the third book in the cycle.
In recent years I have started to collect (and read, of course) as many books by Mr. Vance as I can find.

His work has brought me many hours of joy and I am sure that I will keeping reading his books for many years to come.

May he rest in peace.
