If you target a golfer, he'll chase you wide and far
In his cart, club aloft, until he's under par.

If you target a tennis club, they'll chase you with no catch
For a long long time for them, a game, a set, a match.

If you target a baseball team, they'll strike back with no doubt.
They'll strike back just three times, until they call it out.

And if you target football, they'll charge you with a grunt.
They'll chase down the field until they decide to punt.

Put you chose the marathon to prove you were insane.
These are folks who for fun, run through all their pain.

They aren't big or mean or cruel, but tenacious, to wit:
They are folks who've trained so hard to not know when to quit.

There is no wall they can't run through, no road they will not take.
They will not, can not, stop this run--and that was your mistake.

You have chose the Marathon, and there is one thing sure.
Its them, not you, who's essence makes them be that which endure.
