Yep, I made a topic about cake.

So I recently had red velvet cake for the first time, which surprised everyone I was with because it is seriously the best thing ever, and I refuse to deny its allure.

Yes...allure...

Anyway, what's your favorite? Or do you prefer pie?

I find the answer to that question is largely influenced by what kind of cake you put in front of me, similar to how a duck's opinion of you is largely influenced by whether or not you have bread.

If you put a gun to my head, however (which people seem to like to do, especially recently) I will go with the Tiramisu Cheesecake at the Cheesecake factory, which pains me, because it's not very image-conscious metropolitan to admit liking something from something as big-name and formulaic as Cheesecake Factory.

Chocolate.

Preferably with chocolate icing.

Chocolate, with just a little icing, in a big bowl of milk.

Samp, I just fell in love with you.

Dufresne, party of two...

Chocolate Birthday Cake, which is a specific family recipe for which nothing else substitutes. It is not a birthday without Chocolate Birthday Cake. (Now, if only I could convince other people of this so I didn't have to bake my own every year!)

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry, and that's extra scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. Run, he's fuzzy, get out of here.

Why is that, do you suppose? Perhaps you should explore this further.

I usually tend to find traditional wedding cake with yellow cake and vanilla icing to be the best cake ever. I don't know what they do to make it so special and delicious, but it is.

After that, chocolate is a close second. And right behind that, pineapple upsidedown cake is probably my favorite of the less traditional cakes. My mom makes this sort of cinnamon apple bundt cake that's out of this world as well. I also have to throw a mention in for Pumpkin Cheesecake. I hate cheesecake, but this stuff is magical. I made it last year for the holidays and my brother ate the entire cheesecake in 48 hours. I was glad he liked it, but angry that all my cheesecake was gone!

As for pie: Banana cream pie is my favorite, with apple and pumpkin right behind it. I suppose this is only for desserts, so meat pie doesn't count, but that's a big favorite in my family as well.

You know the funny thing is, I don't even have that much of a sweet tooth, though I bake a fair bit. I just have really strong feelings about my desserts. [Smile]

I'm a big fan of a really good, homemade french vanilla with a rich buttercream icing. Not too much icing, of course, because of the richness.

Or, I go with white cake made with pure almond extract, and the same buttercream with almond flavoring.

But, I would never turn down a good, old-fashioned southern recipe red velvet cake. [Smile]

LOL I knew this was coming eventually!

It sounds like most of you prefer chocolate cake. Except for Samp, who prefers blurry bigfoot, which coincidentally sounds like the name of a drink.

Pretty much any cake that doesn't have pumpkin or coconut in it...

Double points for cream cheese frosting (with or without chocolate).

Look at Samps hair, he clearly has an extreme longing for cake.

Ebinger's Blackout Cake. Entenmann's is [edit] second best. Neither is made anymore.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake.

I have met very few cakes that I dislike. Particular favorites include a family recipe spice cake dusted with powdered sugar, carrot cake with cream cheese icing, and pineapple upside down cake that contains a fair amount of cardamom.

Church of England, cake or death?

Cake please.

Well, we are all out, we didn't expect such a rush.

So my options are "or death"?

I half expected this thread to be hijacked by now and for everyone to be discussing politics (get it? other controversial threads get hijacked and turn into threads about cookies and such. well, it's funny to me).

As for ducks and bread, I say give them the Pepperidge Farm bread.

Carrot, because it also counts as a vegetable.
