I apologize in advance if this is the ump-thousandth thread about "ideas" for getting the iconic sci-fi novel, "Ender's Game" the treatment it deserves for a live-action movie. However, the idea outlined in the title could make it much easier to do. As far as I am aware, there is no book that takes place during the Bugger Wars. Here are a few reasons off the top of my head of why a movie prequel about the war(s) could work:

1) I would say summarize the 1st Bugger war in the Prologue of the movie, but base the prequel itself around the 2nd War.

2) The audience would meet Mazer Rackham first, and thus will develop a deeper understanding of him.

3) The audience would have the chance to become emotionally involved with the entire basis of the Ender's Game story.

4) The writers of "Ender's Game" would be saved the virtually impossible feat of having to justify why an asteroid colony is filled with genius children, whom were taken from their families at such a young age, and were literally turned into weapons. Especially when it comes to scenes like the Ender/Bonzo showdown.

5) People that have never heard of or read Ender's Game would be able to enjoy it as much as those that have.

6) As a result of #5, it will allow the "Ender's Game" movie to stay true to the novel, or novels if including "Ender's Shadow" in the movie is still the preferred choice.

Just speculation on my part, but from my standpoint, it makes the most sense in terms of getting it the treatment it deserves.

Any objections? Suggestions? Tweaks?

A prequel could work but only after EG itself is released and if it does well in theaters.
