Went to a Jimmy Eat World show last night, and they were really good live. Anyway, was trying to think of who I've been to see live, and who I've yet to see. Here is a partial list (will add to it as I think of them):
Rolling Stones Metallica Nine Inch Nails (x2) Tool Mudvayne (x2) Rob Zombie (x2) Staind (x2) Foo Fighters Evanescence Jimmy Eat World Our Lady Peace Korn Filter A Perfect Circle Matchbox 20 Stabbing Westward Sevendust Splender Eve 6 Third Eye Blind ----------------- Cowboy Mouth Smashmouth Train Sponge Orgy Violent Femmes Drowning Pool Nonpoint Papa Roach Puddle of Mudd P.O.D
Below the line are bands which I didn't remember until I went and checked the band list at some concerts I know I've attended. Mostly these are from the local Syracuse area Krockathon, which I attended annually for several years. There are probably two dozen or so more bands I saw at those shows, but I only included them in this list if I actually remember a song from them without difficulty. Being on my list doesn't mean I actually like the band, of course.
So now you guys share your lists...

My list is pretty short.
Disturbed Killswitch Engage Thornley Ashes of Soma Kim Mitchell Chimaera Finger Eleven Leonard Cohen
Plus an assortment of local acts that nobody would have heard of. I missed out on seeing Scorpions, Rush, Cinderella and some more at this last Bayfest (got sick).

there's no way I'm going to be able to recount them all.
Well, however long my list is, I'm planning on adding Gogol Bordello to it on the 28th, and then Crystal Method on halloween.
Might also see Deadmau5 on the 7th.

I'd like to think I knew it at the time, but that was 11 years ago . I only really am familiar with "Blister in the Sun", so I probably wouldn't consider myself a fan.

Even if you can't, might be fun to try. Partial lists are just fine.

oh, I can try to make a partial list, but between music festivals and small shows, I think it would be prohibitive to be comprehensive. Many of these bands I've seen multiple times.
Radiohead Dave Matthews Thievery Corporation Ra Ra Riot Invert Widespread Panic Phish Stone Temple Pilots No Doubt Bare Naked Ladies Coldplay Rodrigo y Gabriela Avett Brothers Richie Havens Third Eye Blind Eve 6 Our Lady Peace Incubus Deftones Janes Addiction Audioslave Jurrasic 5 Kings of Leon The Music Flaming Lips String Cheese Incident Modest Mouse Ween Galactic Flight of the Conchords (they count!) MMW LCD Soundsystem Ben Harper Gogol Bordello Gov't Mule Allman Brothers Ben Folds lots more....
I'm seeing Gorillaz this weekend! Super psyched for that show.

It's a shame that that's the one song everyone knows (not that it's a bad song).

jeez. ok. i'll start writing down a list today.
Posted by Amanecer (Member # 4068) on :
My list is comparatively short:
Bon Jovi Goo Goo Dolls Blue October Snow Patrol Okay Go Dream Theater Dio Beck Jack Johnson Bowling for Soup
Of this group, I'd say Blue October and Bon Jovi put on the best shows. I mean that beyond preference for the music, but good engagement with the audience and all around showmanship.

I didn't even know they did that song, but I prefer the Indigo Girls version anyway. Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :
I haven't the foggiest. I spent a couple years in college going to a different concert almost every weekend, so I certainly don't remember now.
Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :
It seems to be a common problem. I think just listing concerts you remember is sufficient for this threads' purposes. If none were memorable, then I probably wasn't interested in them anyway .
Posted by scholarette (Member # 11540) on :
U2 (Pop and 360) Muse/Rage Against the Machine- opened for U2 Goo-goo dolls Cranberries
So, I think I might be the shortest list. Posted by shadowland (Member # 12366) on :
Concerts I've attended this year beginning with last night...
Broken Social Scene Phoenix The Faint MGMT Kate Nash Jonsi
And tomorrow is Ra Ra Riot. There is no way I can list all of my earlier concerts.
Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :
Showboat Phantom of the Opera Wicked Miss Saigon Smokey Joe's Cafe Coraline Chorus Line Les Miserables Jekyll and Hyde Chess Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat The Lion King
Those are the musicals I've seen on and off Broadway. I'm missing a few, but if I can't remember them, they must not have been fabulous.
Posted by Javert (Member # 3076) on :
None.
Posted by scholarette (Member # 11540) on :
If we add musicals, I can get a bit longer- Phantom Miss Saigon Les Mis Joseph Lion King Beauty and the Beast Chicago Rent I am pretty sure there are more, but that is what I am remembering right now.

Oh yeah! Prepare to danc like a crazy loon.
I can't list all the bands I've seen, it would take too long (not too bost, I just lived next door to the Brixton Academy for many years). This year so far (memorable, as in I can remember them):
Pearl Jam Faith No More Gogol Bordello The Soundtrack of Our Lives George Benson Billy Bragg
... and I didn't go to see Joe Bonamassa last night and bitterly regret it...
Not bad for a Dad with two young kids. I have a very understanding wife.

Jimmy Eat World Blink 182 Green Day Pepper Jake Shimabukuro The John Butler Trio Rodrigo y Gabriela Daft Punk A few different Hawaiian bands that most won't know
My girlfriend and I were were supposed to see Vampire Weekend last month for my birthday last month. They kept us waiting an hour and a half before they cancelled the show. Then %$*&%@ Ticketmaster cancelled our tickets for the makeup date. For no reason! Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :
This is roughly in chronological order from 1998 or so to this year. Bands I've seen more than once are only listed the first time they appear.
Our Lady Peace (three times) Moist I Mother Earth (twice) Joydrop A Perfect Circle The Catherine Wheel Foo Fighters The Smashing Pumpkins A bunch of other bands at the first two Summersaults Big Sugar Matthew Good Band Oasis Kid Koala Radiohead (twice) Sigur Ros The Philosopher Kings Tool Rush (twice) Bang Camaro The Parlour Mob Gnarles Barkley Holy F&@$ Explosions in the Sky Rage Against the Machine Nine Inch Nails A bunch of other bands at Lollapalooza 2008 AC/DC If These Trees Could Talk Kiss The Trews Counting Crows Stone Temple Pilots
The last one was Rush at this summer's Bayfest, which happens across the street from where I live.
Edit: Strider, you and I need to take in a show somewhere! I've already been to one with X and Val (Tool, which was awesome).

I almost forgot to mention a remarkable singer/songwriter I've seen named JT Spangler. How very silly of me.

The only big-time concert I’ve formally bought tickets for and gone to is U2’s Zoo TV tour in Minneapolis, opened by the Pixies, back in 1991. I’ve seen other acts, but none as big as that one.

A couple local ones I can't remember for the life of me.

Maybe more.

Awesome. They're way better live than in the studio. The music washes over you in a way that even a great home setup just can't match.

I'll just mosey on out of this thread now.

I'm very bummed I've never seen Tool. I had the opportunity a few years back and past it up, and for the life of me can't remember why!

I fell asleep at a Tool concert once. *reminisces*
I haven't listened the music concerts as opposed to musicals because I honestly can't remember. I enjoy the experiences, but it's like listing all the movies I've seen, or every party I have been to in the past year. They aren't stored in my long term memory.
Posted by rollainm (Member # 8318) on :
Pretty short list for me:
Ben Folds The Get Up Kids Something Corporate The Ataris Further Seems Forever Finch RX Bandits The Juliana Theory Yellowcard
Musicals (at the Fox Theater in Atlanta): Rent The Phantom of the Opera The King and I
Comedians: Mitch Hedberg Stephen Lynch Zach Galifianakis Patton Oswalt
edited to add musicals and comedians.

I don't have all my concert ticket stubs because my idiot ex threw things away without checking with me, so I'm going from memory on anything prior to 2003 and probably missed some bands. I do have all of my theatre stubs, though.

As some of you know from years past on Hatrack, I have very sensitive ears, and so despite being a musicophile, I have attended few popular music concerts (many new music ones but he names mean little to most people).
Dashboard Confessional Lit Qurashi The Strokes Radiohead Massive Attack

Hmmm, there are more that I just can't recall at the moment.
In terms of Theatre: Phantom of The Opera Chicago Cats Cabaret The Lion King Wicked The Sound of Music Fiddler on the Roof Oklahoma!
I also feel like that's an incomplete list....

I've seen too many bands to list, but I must state that I saw The Smashing Pumpkins a few years ago. And rather wish I hadn't. Maybe it would've been better before Billy Corgan was a self-satisfied, smug half-shadow of what he formerly was. But I didn't want to listen to an hour and half long guitar jam accompanied by vocal bird calls. Thank you, Billy Corgan.
