I dunno, I've seen more than enough media about the mob, what it's like to be in the mafia, why it's self destructive, why we should sympathize with some of them, etc.

I'm not sure what, if anything new, this show brings to the table besides high production values.

I wouldn't be so dismissive. Many people had a similar impression of "The Wire" promos -- they've seen enough cops & drug dealers stories etc but then they gave it a chance and came to admire the show very much.

And yes, the production values (judging from the trailer) impressed me and they're why I'll give the show a chance some years down the road. Plus a tv drama these days (especially on HBO) is likely to be more engrossing than anything Hollywood is offering.

I think it'll be a good show, but "best ever in history" is rather pushing it.

I know I know.

I'm not dismissing the show out right, I'm just saying they are going to have to do some very good writing for me to get something new from the show.

Frankly nothing will ever displace Bonano in my eyes.

I do not understand the drive to declare how good something will be before you've actually, you know, seen it.

Nothing will ever live up to Magnum, P.I.

Wait... Steve Buschemi just seems wrong for that role. He's paying a straight, non quirky guy? What?!?

And as for "best TV show in history", I'm still holding out for Danger Island. [Smile]

Wow, I am not sure what I think abut that concept being done for real.

Looks like a great series. I am looking forward to it. [Big Grin]

It does look good from the trailer but I'm just sick to death of mobster movies and shows.

However, I think all these writers are missing a goldmine. I have seen stories about the prohibition era smugglers that are truly fascinating. Not the bigwig mobsters like Capone, but the little guys with a boat running rum up from the islands and people like that. I think there is a huge amount of story potential there.

When I read this title I was really hoping they were going to try a Firefly reboot.

When I read this title, I was sure that Wonderfalls was coming back. . . .

I don't think anything will beat The Wire in my book.
