Have you seen this film and if so how do you think it compares to his other work?

I think it's his best movie after "Pulp Fiction." Supposedly "Jackie Brown" failed to impress the people who were amazed by PF because Jackie Brown is a more subdued, straightforward film without the quirks (i.e, out of sequence storytelling, outrageous violence) Tarantino relied on in his two earlier films.

This critic thinks it's his best film:

It is indeed a far more mature and substantive film than the schlock he's been turning out lately (his last three films.)

Oddly enough Tarantino has said that he's very distanced from "Jackie Brown." It is after all an Elmore Leonard adaptation. Kermode's point that this is the only Tarantino film in which the characters seem like real people with their own unique voices perhaps has to do with the fact that Tarantino was just channeling Elmore Leonard. For whatever reason however Tarantino insists on churning out schlock entirely conceived by him rather than more superb adaptations.

Really? Have you seen all his movies?

It's been a while since I've seen JB, but I wasn't as impressed by it. Guess I'll have to see it again one of these days.

And I just noticed... Kill Bill, Volume 3 has been announced for 2014. How are they going to manage that one?!?

It is quite possibly the movie I saw in theaters that I liked the least in my entire life.

I can't say it was a "bad" movie, since so many others seemed to like it, but it did nothing for me.

Don't believe imdb. They often list under director's names films which will never get made.

That's really creepy, Lisa.

I haven't shared my first name here.

Actually, you did. But I'm glad I was able to make you feel almost as uncomfortable as you make me feel. Would you like to declare a truce?

Why? I don't really have any issues with you. But every time I say something you seem to lash out like a cornered cat for some reason.

Tarantino movies is about a movie for movie geeks, filled to the brim with this sorta meta self awareness of movie popculture.

Pretty much sums up what makes a Tarantino movie.

At first I thought to myself prequil, even though they would have to bury Uma's pretty face in de-aging makeup but then I remembered. Bill is dead. Literally.

Your move Tarantino.

Actually I read somewhere the film will be about someone hunting down Uma Thurman's character. Remember the first woman that Uma Thurman killed right in front of her daughter? Apparently the film is supposed to be about that little girl growing up and training to one day go out and get her revenge on Uma Thurman.

Meh...
