Oreferably from Chapters.ca? My father is stopping my Chapters and offered to get me one, any suggestions?

w3schools.com is online, and free, and is what I use when I am doing any HTML/CSS.

Yeah but for the same reason I tend to buy my D&D books rather then torrent the pdfs is that I like to physically hold a book and flip through pages.

Was going to recommend that myself.

For server side stuff, the best bet is to pick a popular language/framework and read their intro docs. I personally favor django, but this part's more a matter of taste and project requirements.

If you're really looking for a book, you'd likely be better served with a more general purpose book.

Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programming is a classic for a more CS oriented book. If you want something more pragmatic, Code Complete by Steve Mcconnell is a fairly solid book.

I have no idea whatsoever whether either of these books would be at the store you mentioned, but they're both fairly solid choices.
