Alas! One of Hollywood's class acts.

Thanks, Lisa, for bringing this to my attention. I remember the old Mission Impossible shows with Peter Graves. And those other roles he played, as well. I don't know much about him as a person, but as noted in the article, he was "iconic." He was one of the actors I for one recognized instantly. It is amazing how aged he looked in the photo used in the article, compared to the way I remember him from his TV and movie roles. Time is not our friend. Unless you are an investor--in something like gold.

I don't know. Living a long time and getting old and ugly sounds better than the alternative.

Yes, he was very recognizable - for me one of those 'Hey, it's that guy!' actors.

But he's not on the list!

I like this one better, but he isn't on there, either.

I actually remember him best from a movie called Where Have All the People Gone?. A group of kids are hiking, and they go into a cave (except for two who stay outside -- bad idea). When they come out again, there are two little piles of sand where their friends were. Turns out there was a solar flare that disintegrated most of the people in the world (because that's what solar flares do, natch), and these kids and Peter Graves (who wasn't a kid, so maybe he was a counselor or something?) are among the last living people on earth. I vaguely recall that dogs and other animals were apparently immune to the solar flare (and why not?).

Now I have to track the flick down.

Eternal youth is preferable to eternal aging. At some point, if you are not rejuvenated, you become dust.

I'll never be able to watch movies about gladiators the same way again.
