Ok, so not until next week. Even so, Sesame Street is turning 40 this month. Are there any episodes that you remember fondly? I just watched a clip on YouTube where the adults explained to Big Bird that Mr. Hooper was dead. My mother the pre-school teacher says it's the best explanation of death for a young child that she's ever seen. I remember crying that day. It was so sad.

I always loved the fact that Big Bird was the only one who could see Mister Snuffalupagus.

Sesame Street is awesome. I have a 1 and 3-year-old and watch it with them now. It's changed a lot since my childhood, but it is still very good. They do such a wonderful job of entertaining children and adults.

I actually had to look this one up, because I remember it as a *quart* of milk. But there actually seems to be some debate about it. (I'm sure there's a vid of it somewhere, but vids are blocked at work )

I have had this stuffed dog since I was 3 or 4. His name is Fred... for my favorite Sesame Steet song. "My name is Fred, they call me Fred" Love it!

When I was very small, I knew that Ernie was just a puppet with a hand inside it, but I really thought he was talking himself; he just needed someone's hand to help work his mouth. Then my mom bought me an Ernie puppet. I stuck my hand in to work the mouth, and I couldn't understand why he wasn't talking. I was crushed.

This was actually a teaching tool for adults (at least the reveal when the adults finally met Snuffy). It was meant to teach parents that if a child tells you something over and over it is often true. It was meant to open the eyes of parents to abuse concerns and children who were being disbelieved when they told parents that someone was hurting them.

I don't know, but it's so weird nowadays to see everyone talking to snuffy. I wish he'd go back to being just Big Bird's friend.
Our library has some classic Sesame Street episodes.

I recently took my 19 month old daughter to Bush Gardens and we saw two Sesame Street shows. She was absolutely enthralled. I have never seen her so excited about anything before. She talked about Elmo to me for days afterwords. She got to dance with all of the characters and sit on Abby's lap. It was the highlight of our trip.

On the other hand, I was never a huge Sesame Street fan as a kid. All my memories are from my son's addiction to Elmo.
