I liked it. The dialogue, especially some of Duke and Ripcord's lines, was awful in the beginning. But there were moments, when Duke refused to surrender the briefcase to the Joes in the beginning, that worked for me. The plot was so-so, but the characters felt like good people. I didn't mind that they weren't nuanced. They built the movie with room to grow, and I look forward to the franchise.

It's nice and refreshing to go to a movie and see more than five people working together who aren't incompetent, greedy or jerks. Go GI Joe.

I liked it too. If anything it felt a good deal like my cartoon in movie form. When the massive Joe sub got hit by that energy cannon and their main propellor was totally destroyed, but 10 minutes later they were able to roll up in front of Cobra Commander and Destro my initial response was, "hey wait, their sub was disabled...oh wait, it's GI Joe."

I think it was a solid setup, I'd watch another movie. I'd write more but I'm on vacation and I must at least attempt to resist my desire to post on hatrack.

You know, I saw the posters and thought it would be a crappy movie. I have zero familiarity with the original cartoon, so it seemed just another bad something-to-movie adaptation. But the trailer looked decent - meaning: lots of fights and explosions, and less cheesiness than in "Transformers" for example [Smile] -. If it's also decently intelligent I might actually go see it!

Random explosions that have nother to do the conflict thats happening, one liners, sexist oppression (it it me or are women not allowed rifles?) and complete vertigo from the narritive side. I thought that it was specifically funny that the two main actress' were as skinny as possible without fainting yet thier small busts were nearly maimed for the appearance of cleavage, even if they had to put body armor on top on cup a size bigger. I feel bad for the guy from Third Rock from the Sun, who knows what kind of role he'll get from this.

All in all, I would be dissapointed if GI JOE was deep, gritty, explained and well thought out.

AchillesHeel: Scarlett's Xbow seemed to do a pretty good job of hitting everything she was pointing at. They also made a point of mentioning she had the best score on the shooting challenge. Also Baroness firing pulse blasts left and right seems to be way more devastating than those rifles.

But I do know what you mean to some extent, in the game Left 4 Dead they have mock movie posters and the girl is always depicted carrying a pistol while the dudes have M-16s and shotguns. At best she dual wields two pistols, and it does bug me.

How do you feel about the video game Gauntlet? Any problems with the Valkyrie not carrying a big ol' double-headed axe?

I mistook Joseph Gordon-Levitt ( I googled the name)as Keanu Reeves when he was first being the doctor. It took me a few to remember that Joseph was in the movie so it was him with a Keanu wig.

I thought the worst part was when Scarlett in the chase scene gets on a motorcycle, then procedes to do nothing. She drives behind them and almost kills herself a bunch. Then gets back in the van.

One good thing came as a result of the G.I. Joe movie... The Ballad of G.I. Joe starring Alan Tudyk, Henry Rollins, Julianne Moore, Billy Crudup and a bunch of others.

Movies like these are why I can hold my head up high and proudly admit I sneak into any movie whose producers try to game the critics.

I was never bored, but I probably wont watch it ever again.

The effects and character designs were meh, the pacing was too quick, and it was pretty stupid.

Ice sinks in this movie.

Well, only when blown up. That's scientific, right?
