I've never actually been interested in Star Trek, but this movie looks pretty good.
I think I've become like those people who like the new Day the Earth Stood Still... god, I hate them.

I'm really looking forward to this. I didn't enjoy Of Gods and Men, but I've liked the New Voyages episodes. I know this is different, but I'm game for variations on a theme. It worked with BSG, after all.

There are people that like the remake?

Still on the fence about whether I want to watch this.

Kevin Smith said it was the best Star Trek movie he has seen since WoK.

Kevin Smith, much as I love him, also raved over the Star Wars prequels.

It's got to the point where when OSC says he likes a film, I'm suddenly sure I won't - it works nearly every time (the exception which proves the rule being Serenity). Not always the case with books or TV, though, luckily.
As for the trailer - the bit where the tiny red-uniformed dudes run to gawp and point at the laser heading for the bridge absolutely looked like Star Trek. Still not sure about the rest of it.

Trailer's on Hulu, along with lots other Superbowl commercials:
Yeah. I won't get excited unless they have something beyond empty bombast. Though I do like how gloomy McCoy seems.

TV trailers are just about the worst form of movie trailer. They tell you absolutely nothing about the movie, just give you a bunch of high octane moments. I have no idea whether this movie is going to be good or not but judging it based on a 30 second TV spot is just silly.

OK, I'll admit it. I have no taste. I think I want to see this.

I know I want to see it. If it's miraculously good, I will get to rave about it. If it sucks as badly as I think it will, I will get hours of enjoyment from bagging on it.

Heh. Some credible people said the same thing about ST: Nemesis. It's all a matter of opinion, and there's absolutely no accounting for taste.
