Is there a special significance of the phrase "out there"?

My name is not Crisp, and I've been down this road before, running away doesn't return ones addiction.

To say that a person is "out there"... maybe it's a regionalism, I don't know. Here, it has the connotation of being sort of... way out there. Unusual.

It means both things here. I guess it depends on the context.

Pretty awesome last name, though, as far as last names go and all.

Really? They had to include the pun "foal play". That's dignified.

I think that it's somewhat more likely that someone typed the wrong word than that the reporter was trying to make a pun.
Posted by dantesparadigm (Member # 8756) on :
Is that even a pun? Wikipedia says it's a baby horse.
Posted by JonHecht (Member # 9712) on :
It is, just a really really bad one, and a bit of a stretch.
Edit: I interpreted it as saying he was a young child, and because he was lost in the wild.
Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :
Jon, that's ridiculous. Why would you think that it was a pun?
Posted by JonHecht (Member # 9712) on :
Because I think that too many things are deliberate and then extrapolate false information based on that false assumption far too often.
