When a tv show has a spin off series, do you watch them at the same time? For instance, Angel starts before Buffy ends and has a few connected episodes. Stargate Atlantis does the same, but not so much in the way of connected episodes. I'm watching the 5th season of Star Trek TNG right now. Should I start watching DS9 at the same time I start season 6?

That sort of happened to me with Doctor Who. When I got to the 4th season finale and they had Torchwood and Sarah Jane all involved, I realized that after I went and watched those two shows, I'd have to rewatch the Doctor Who finale.

There weren't all that many things about it where it made a difference. There was a reference to Tosh and Owen in the finale that I missed the first time around, and there was the finale of the first season of Torchwood that led directly into the Christmas special of Doctor Who with Jack running for the Tardis. Other than that, it didn't really make much of a difference.

I watched Angel and Buffy together when they were first on, so I don't know if it would make a difference to finish Buffy first before watching Angel.

While Buffy and Angel have a lot of crossovers, I don't remember there being that much crossover in the two Star Treks' timelines (except for the first episode of DS9).

I can't think of any other episodes where the two crews interact face to face - I think Riker's double turns up once but that doesn't count.

That was a longwinded way of saying... no.
But you should watch DS9 anyway because it rocks.

I haven't watched either show since they originally aired. I vaguely remember Bashir being on the bridge of the Enterprise for some reason, and Q with Vash on DS9.

I usually buy two TVs and DVD players and watch them simultaneously, preferably with Dark Side of the Moon playing in the background.

Sure, but what are folks with an intact corpus colossum supposed to do?

My sister and I are watching Buffy straight through from the beginning, and when we got to the fourth season (which is when Angel started), we began watching the episodes of each show as they would have aired. It doesn't matter that much, although it did give us the great great joy of watching "Hush" and "Parting Gifts" (the Angel episode where Wesley first shows up). And it is fun when there are crossovers.
