I just had a friend recommend this band to me, and she sent me some of their music. I really like it so far, although at first it seemed a lot like Evanescence.

I like it because it puts together unlike elements of music....a harder rock feel with classical background music, making it sound fairly different. I don't know what to call it, although some people call it "goth rock". The problem with that is that I am not goth at all, yet I still like it.

I guess I like it because while it has an edge to it, it still sounds very lyrical....the the musicianship seems really solid. My only complaint so far is that it seems to be overproduced...it is almost TOO slick.

I haven't listened to it all yet, but it seems pretty cool so I thought I would share my opinion of it, and ask if anyone else listens to them.

edit: I was thinking that some of the other dongs reminded me of the music for WoW...so then I looked the band up on wikki, and it turns out that 2 or 3 of their songs were included on soundtracks for a couple fo video games. [Smile]

While they are not one of my favourite bands, I do have their first album in my collection. This first album to my mind did not have the problem of being to slick - or overproduced. This first album is a bit too repetitive for my taste, that's why I haven't purchased their subsequent albums. Consider the fact that before they got their record contract they had been playing together for years (as most bands do), so this can be an explanation for their skills.
Sharon den Adel, the singer, definitely has a pleasing voice.
As to it being labeled as goth rock... I can't disagree with that label, but obviously that doesn't mean you have to fit in to that sub-culture.

PS. If you are interested I have a single of them featuring some early live performances.

I heard of them when I was living in Belgium. They had that summers big record, and were all over the airwaves.

I must say the few tracks I've heard are good, although not enough to track down the albums...

I was reading up on them last night/this morning, and I like what they call it....symphonic rock. It fits better in my mind. [Big Grin]
