It is official one of the best games ever in my book, eighteen hours of awesome. I actually beilive that the story line from the metal gear solids could have made a 4-Star movie, it was simply the most compelling story i have seen in a video game since FF7. The game play was also awesome, Amazingly fun, and the controls actually made sense!

The hidden things were great, references, even the humor was good. THATS RIGHT! The humor in a video game made me laugh out loud, the few times the 4th wall was broken was totally worth it.

Never before have i wanted to go do awesome action-y things as much as i do righ now.... and yes i did stay up until 2:00 in the morning to beat this game, and i work in the morning. But i keep thinking of playing though again.

Soooo.. has anyone else played/playing/is going to play this game? Because you should, i now feel as if getting a ps3 was worth it.

wow, not until this moment have i ever felt i could be described as a raving fanboy.... Totally worth it.

How long were the cut scenes?

Eternal, from what one hears. But most people seem to think it's the best in the series, even those that didn't like the cut scenes.

Please, no more. I really don't want to buy a PlayStation 3 for one game, but there's only so much I can take.

What he said.

Although all things considered, were I to get a new console, It would be the PS3 over the 360.

All things considered I am enormously glad I got a 360 over the PS3 as all this time I've had so many great games whereas with the PS3 I would have just been mad at it. I'll get my brother to buy one since he is coming back from his missionary duties in exactly 4 weeks. Then we can just routinely swap games/systems.

Still think a joint PS3/Xbox release would have been in Konami's best interests.

Were I to have gotten one of those two many months ago, the 360 would have been my choice. As it stands now, of all the exclusive titles to each system, I would pick the PS3's game library.

What I have to fight Mantis again and without a PS controller to plug into the second player slot he can always read my mind?

One or two might have pushed an hour, but at no point was i bored, and you can always skip them.

I decided to get a PS3 for Wipeout HD, and since I need at least some PS2 backwards compatibility (for Persona 3 FES, which I haven't finished) and wanted a DualShock 3 rather than a Sixaxis, the MGS4 bundle was my only option if I wanted to buy new. I already have a 360 and I'm very happy with it, but the lure of rocket cars was just too strong. So now I have the PS360 combo, perhaps one day to be the PSWii60 combo...

I haven't played MGS4 yet, but I did download the free MGS database and also delve into the story of MGS3 online to get caught up. I actually think I understand the story so far going into MGS4, which is saying something given how convoluted it is. I'm expecting to enjoy the game, although I do hope that Kojima's MGS2-style pseudo-philosophical wankery is kept to a minimum. Just give me a good yarn, please, and don't pretend that this is anything other than popcorn.

Added: Reviews I've read peg cutscene length at about half that of the game, so I guess you can expect to spend nine or ten hours playing the game and nine or ten hours watching Snake do all kinds of crazy stuff that is inexplicably impossible when you're actually controlling him.
