I went to the drugstore this morning to buy some tape. A man walked up to me, kept whistling loudly and trying to pluck at my shoulder. When I reacted with annoyance, asking him (not nicely) what did he think he was doing, he cussed me out, then asked to talk to "my manager".
I was wearing a blue t-shirt with an enormous duck head logo (once used by the now defunct "Duck Inn"). It suppose it vaguely looks like the blue uniform shirts employees of various convenience stores wear. Except for the enormous duck head and "Duck Head Inn" logo printed on both sides...and the lack of a collar and name-tag.
When I told him I did not work at the store and walked away he threw a fit, cussing louder about how rude I was.
I was being rude by pulling away from him and getting huffy, I'll admit that. Certainly I'm not wearing a blue t-shirt while shopping there again.
I noticed he seemed more upset when I told him I didn't work there than when he thought I was an employee with an attitude.

Maybe you shouldn't be so jealous of us folk who can whistle quite proficiently; and like plucking shoulders.....and know how to swear alot, and ask for managers.

I enjoy wearing a red polo shirt if I know I'm going to make a trip to a Target. Of course, I'm just obnoxious. So, it's fun.
However, I can see how your situation would be uncomfortable. Especially if the guy reacted negatively.
