So my office is down in a hole.

I have t-mobile wireless, which is inexpensive, but doesn't have the best connectivity. (Can you hear me now? NO!)

In the hole I have little or no connection.

The company I work for has 3-4 employees full time. The boss didn't want to go to the expense of a full blown phone system. All we need is Voice Mail.

They had just been using everyone's cel phones, but if I'm working in the office, and another salesman was coming in, and neither of our mobile phones worked in the office, we needed a change.

My idea, T-Mobile Home Hot Spot. Basically, you hook up a wireless router and get phones that can use the internet to make calls, then away you go.

I can now make and receive calls over the internet. All such calls are free.

The problem--we already have a secure wireless router in the office. My phone can connect to that one, but then I need to type in password.

The old router is also our DSL modem.

I connected the new router to the old and it works.

I went to run the installation software. It requires a computer plugged into the internet via a direct line, not a wireless router.

All the portable computers in the office are wireless.

The one desktop computer we use is running Linux.

The installation software doesn't work on linux.

but it seems to run fine without any installation...most of the time

Then there are hours where the wireless system drops calls every minute or so. The phone automatically shifts to regular cellular service, but since we don't get a good connection in the office, that doesn't help, I drop my client.

Has anyone else used this service?

Any suggestions?

Thanks. Since I am computerless at home right now, I can't get back to this thread till tomorrow.
