According to the NYTs, President Bush called up President Musharraf, and urged him to, "Take off your uniform," and step down as head of the military. He also said to Musharaff,

"You can't be president and head of the military at the same time."

Now I think I know what Bush is trying to say, but if there weren't a writers strike, I am sure the Colbert Report or Daily Show would snatch that gem up.

Maybe this is Bush's way of taunting them.

But there is some kind of difference between being president and head of the military. Just don't ask me to explain it.

We should make a thread and pretend its a script for Colbert? i dont have time to make it, gtg

I think Stewart and Colbert might focus more on the presidential candidate who saw a UFO.

But perhaps that's too easy to make fun of.

Bush has a point. Imagine if someone were to suggest that the US President should be the commander in chief of the US armed forces. There'd be riots in the streets!

Gaaaaah!! im ready for the riots allready [Smile]

Ooo, we can riot? 'Cause there's this plasma screen TV that I've had my eyes on... [Wink]

Wait..that would be looting, not rioting. Dangit!

"Next place we hit was the liquor store. I finally got all the liquor that I can't afford..."

I remember when that song got played, like, three times an hour on KROQ. I never got it.

lyric nitpick:

"alcohol I can't afford"

"April 26, 1992. There was a riot on the streets, tell me where were you?"

Still don't get it? Or you don't get why they'd want alcohol?

Whatever. It was freakin' 7 years ago.

I get the song. I don't get why it got played 3 times an hour and everyone thought it was totally awesome. In the city where the riots took place.

I was in 5th grade during the Riots. I remember children crying because they were afraid their mommy or daddy was going to get shot going to work.

Musharaff has already declared that he will hold elections in February and will give up his uniform when he assumes his new term as president. If you can find today's copy of the NYTs it's right there on the front page.

So, what lucky advisor gets to explain to Bush what commander in chief means?
