That's a pretty cool video. On the whole subject of Teller speaking, he did an interview with the podcast The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe a couple months back. It was pretty interesting, and I'd recommend checking it out.

That episode's info page

I still can't get over his voice. Totally not what I would have thought.

Who is Teller, and why does anyone care?

A lot of people believe he's god. You'd be glad to hear his voice too, wouldn't you?

Teller just lip-synched to an off-camera ventriloquist.

Serious answer: He's half of the magic/comedy duo Penn & Teller. His whole bit is that he doesn't speak. A bit like Harpo Marx.

The story goes that he began doing magic for frat parties in college. When he tried doing the 'magician monologue', he would get heckled. So he stopped talking, and his silence got everyone to pay attention to what he was doing.

And an act is born!

My mom went to grad school with Teller. They were both studying to be Latin teachers, which Teller was for a while before Penn & Teller took off. I'll have to send her this link.

In their "Mofo the Psychic Gorilla" routine (which has a talking mechanical gorilla head doing tricks), Teller does the gorilla's voice.
